In Other Words

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
by the light of HIS glory and grace."
--Helen Limmel--
When I read this quote I think about the day that I will be in heaven and I am walking towards Jesus, truly seeing Him for the very first time. I am confident that all my surroundings will completely disappear and I will be completely engulfed "by the light of HIS glory and grace." But, since I will finally be in heaven I will be able to look completely straight at him and not have to shield my human eyes. I will be able to "look full in His wonderful face."

About a year ago, I read an absolutely incredible, life-changing book called Safely Home by Randy Alcorn. I would highly recommend it....100 times over. Anyway, towards the end of the book (spoiler alert....but still totally worth reading) one of the characters has passed away and has entered heaven. He first gets to see faithful family members who have gone before him. He gets to meet Hudson Taylor, Stephen, and other martyrs. That depiction of heaven is incredible. But, then he is taken to see His Savior who is waiting for him to present a white robe and a crown. As this character approaches Jesus he is overwhelmed and falls to his knees and his focus is completely on Jesus. I can't even explain what Randy Alcorn so eloquently describes. I just know that it is what I feel it will be like when I get to heaven.

In the meantime, I am here on earth and I must face the imperfections of this earth each and every day. Those imperfections bring pain, disappointment, confusion, and disillusionment. Living in this world is so hard and it makes me tired. When I do look upon Jesus, though, and I soak up his Glory and Grace this earth "grows strangely dim." It is almost like I am transported to another place....a place with perfect love and comfort. Yes, I have to return to this world and continue on. But, the more I take the time to look upon the face of my Savior through Scripture, prayer, and worship, this earth takes less of an effect on me and I am not overwhelmed by it all. I become less and less of this world. I am just in it as I travel through on my way to living for eternity with my Lord.

Head on over to I Will Take It Lord... to read what other ladies think about this lovely quote.

Had to be the first to share a little love :) I think of prayer as the wardrobe that transports me to Narnia. I gaze upon Jesus and I'm in another world.

Soaking up the 'glory and grace' on this earth does make the here and now seem 'strangely dim.'
You are so right..
