Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt

THEME: TWO

I was fascinated by the prevalence of nuns and monks in Poland. I know there are plenty of nuns and monks in the U.S. of A. but they don't seem to wear the same garb. In Poland they where the traditional habits and robes. Very cool!

I can't say that I recall seein' either walk around anywhere I've been... perhaps that means I need to travel more? LOL

Long time since I've seen nuns in habits... possibly not since I was taught by Sisters of Mercy when I was a child. Thanks for bringing back memories

I think you are right. I see them walking in the traditional clothing more often in Europe then in the States. THOUGH, just two weeks ago I was at the beach in Ca and saw 8 nuns having a picnic! I didn't have my camera! ;-(
Love your choice!

my comment didn't post!
I love your choice! I just saw 8 nuns in California having a picnic at the beach! But you are right, you don't see them often.
I apologize if this is a duplicate!

It reminds me of the Ireland of my youth. Whether it's still like that there, I don't know. Not so long ago there was a nun travelling on a flight that I was on, and I remarked then how unusual to see them these days.

Good point, perhaps the monastaries and convents in the US are more secluded? Or maybe they just wear regular everyday clothes more often.

Oh Oh...first thought in my mind when I saw your photo come to view was: "I'm in trouble"....guess you could say a guilty conscience? I saw way too many of those when I grew up and went to school!

Love it!

We do have a lot of those nuns here. I used to see them nuns for eleven years when I studied in a Catholic school run by nuns.

Thanks for sharing your photo. Have a great weekend! :)

Well nuns in their robes is a common sight in the Philippines. Just that one night a couple of nuns startled me while we were driving on a deserted street in the dead of the night.

I agree. I just dont remember ever seeing something like this with my own eyes!

I like the photograph you used for two. I never thought about the topic of the post before. Interesting. I think I used to see more nuns in full habit where I live in the U.S. in the past. Haven't noticed any lately.

Nuns still wear the same habits, but they have a choice to make in the different styles and colors these days. They do still have the original in their closets, but probably are glad to have a change. A friend of our family's is a nun, and we've taken her out for picnics, the zoo, the aquarium, etc. Once for lunch, we went to eat lunch, (my choice because of the food) and felt so bad when she said to me,... "I've never been in a bar before." I about crawled in a hole. It never crossed my mind. I will never forget that. God bless her!

Eons ago, when I was a young girl, the nuns at St. Joseph Hospital wore habits.
Just went with my uncle a couple of weeks ago, no habits to be seen.
